クローク姫
The cloakroom princeses

ヘルシンキでオペラを観たことがあります。
12月30日と31日。日付を覚えているのは印象深かったからです。
オペラ劇場で最初に寄るのは大きなクローク。
そこで大きな御婦人の皆さんに（ごめんなさい！皆さんご親切だったのに）
コートもマフラーもブーツも預かっていただきます。
30日、大きな御婦人の皆さん（何度もすみません！）は
覚えてないくらい普通の服装でした。
明けて31日、クロークの皆さんは
全員ハッピーなお揃いのドレス姿で我々を迎えてくれたのです！
パフスリーブでギャザーたっぷりの裾が床まである
ピンクのドレスは子供の頃描いたお姫様の絵と同じでした。
大きな皆さん＋ピンク＋ギャザー＆パフスリーブ効果は素晴らしく、
訪れたお客さん皆がにこにこしていて
とても愉快な雰囲気に包まれていました。
大きな御婦人だからこそユーモラスで楽しいんだろうなあ…
とひとり納得しましたが、そこまで制服担当の方が考えたかどうかは…

 

I've seen opera in Helsinki some years ago. 

The dates were the 30th and the 31th of December.

It is because of the then strong impression

that I remember the dates so clearly.

The place where the guests first come by is the cloakroom.

There they check their overcoats, mufflers, and

also boots to big cloakladies

 (sorry! they were really very kind.)

On the 30th, all of the big cloakladies

(sorry, again!) put on ordinary clothing,

so I couldn't remember at all.

But the next day, the 31th, December,

they all welcomed us with the same happy dresses!

The dress of puff sleeves with plenty of gathers was

almost the same as a princess's picture

that I've drawn in my childhood.

The effect of big ladies plus pink color

plus gathers & puff sleeves was

so wonderful that the  guests there were smiling happily,

and surrounded with very pleasant atmosphere.

Just because they were big ladies,

it was so humorous and pleasant,

so was I persuaded by myself,

but not sure that the staff in charge of 

uniforms might have anticipated such effect.
