Siegfried

 

セサミストリートのような小鳥は
被り物を脱ぐと、
澄んだ声で歌いました。

去年「ラインの黄金」「ワルキューレ」の再演を観て、
楽しみにしていた新国立劇場のジークフリート。
聴くたびに、どうしてこんな単純な乱暴者が
「ワーグナーが最も愛した主人公」なのか不思議だった。
20日、そのことを感じずにすとんと腑に落ちた。


バーナード・ショーがこんなことを書いています。


祖父は支配者であるがゆえに法との錯綜した関わり合いに囚われ、
父はこのもつれとの悲劇的な苦闘を強いられたが、
こうした暗雲のなかから陽光のもとへと、
快活この上ない若き森人、暁の子が飛び出し、
この男のうちに英雄の血筋が現れいでたのだ。

スーパーマンのS字シャツ（オレンジ色ですが）を着た英雄は、
この夜 Tokyo Ringらしい過剰装飾とケミカルに鮮やかな舞台の真ん中で
確かに止むことなく前進する生命を歌っている気がしました。

After I've seen "The Rheinegold" and "The Valkyries" 
for the revival performance of Tokyo Ring last year, 
I've been looking forward to seeing "Siegfried" at New National Theatre, Tokyo.
Every time I saw it, I wondered why so simple and rude a character was
Wagner's most favorite hero.
On 20th February I didn't think so any more,
but felt to have got the point just right.

Altogether an inspiriting young forester, a son of the morning,
in whom the heroic race has come out into the sunshine
from the clouds of his grandfather's majestic entanglements with law,
and the night of his father's tragic struggle with it.

The hero wearing Superman's shirt (though it was orange this time)
with the letter S seemed to sing a ceaselessly advancing life amidst
 the excessively decorative and chemically clear stage settings 
unique to Tokyo Ring.
