サウナ
The sauna bath

ホテルのバスルームには
赤いあひるちゃんが置いてあった。
なんだかいいでしょ。
There was red Rubber Ducky 
in the bathroom of the hotel.
It's good anyway, isn't it?

ブリューゲルの絵みたいなが景色が好きで、冬の散歩は楽しい。
着込んで出かけて、戻ってあたたかいお風呂でゆっくり。
たいていはこれで大丈夫だけどお正月のヘルシンキは。
お風呂に浸かってもちっとも暖まらない。
お湯じゃだめなんだ。
スチームサウナに行って、あんまんみたいに蒸気で蒸されて
ようやく生きた心地がした。
寒い国の方がサウナを大切にしている気持ちが分かった。
必要だったのね。どうしても。
フィンランドで言われる「サウナは神聖なところ」ということも分かる気がした。
生命を守る場所だから、じゃないかしら。


ニキータ・ミハルコフの「太陽に灼かれて」の最初に
小さいお嬢さんと夫婦が大喜びでサウナ小屋でくつろぐ場面がある。
面白い映画だった。
「太陽に灼かれて２」が出来ていることをyoutubeで知った。

 

 

ホテルのスチームサウナは自慢の凝ったこしらえで、
神殿の巫女さんになったようでした。

I'm fond of the scenes like the pictures of Bruegel,
so it's pleasant  to stroll in winter.
Going out wearing well to keep warm, and after coming back,
I enjoy in a warm bath leisurely. 
Generally it's enough to do so, but in Helsinki in New Year's days 
I couldn't get warm in an ordinary bath.
The warm water won't do. Going to sauna bath, 
and being steamed like Anman
( steamed bun with sweet bean paste),
then I felt to be alive.
I've understood the sentiment that people 
in the cold country cherished sauna.
It's indispensable for them, absolutely.
I felt to be able to understand a Finnish saying :
Sauna is sanctuary. It's indispensable for them, absolutely.
It means that sauna is the place to protect life, doesn't it?
At the beginning of Nikita Mikhalkov's cinema
 "Burnt by the Sun" was the scene where a little girl and
 her parents relaxed very happily in a sauna bathroom.
I've just found through YouTube that "Burnt by the Sun 2"
has  been achieved already.
